The ideal applicant should have some past volunteer experience, experience abroad and at least a basic proficiency in the Spanish language.  However, most of our successful applicants are stronger in one area more than the others.

This is not an exclusive list, and we realize that many of our applicants are applying to our program precisely to gain abroad experience, volunteer experience and improve their Spanish proficiency.

We strongly encourage at least a basic understanding of the Spanish language as homestay families and worksite staff speak Spanish almost exclusively.  You will be expected to use and improve your Spanish language skills on a daily basis.
